The Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts (Districts) is a public agency focused on converting waste into resources like recycled water, energy, and recycled materials. The agency consists of 24 independent special districts serving about 5.5 million people in Los Angeles County, with a service area covering approximately 850 square miles encompassing 78 cities and unincorporated areas in the county. For wastewater management, LACSD operates and maintains: 11 wastewater treatment plants, Approximately 1,400 miles of sewer pipelines, Approximately 27,000 manholes, and 49 pumping plants, Refer to FIGURE 1 for the Districts' service area.
