On-Call Engineering Services Water and Sewer Capital Improvement Projects

SCOPE OF WORK The City of Whittier (City) is located within the County of Los Angeles, south of the 60 Freeway, east of the I-605 Freeway, and north of Imperial Highway (90). The City is bounded by the cities of La Habra, Santa Fe Springs, Pico Rivera, City of Industry, La Habra Heights, and other unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. The water service area is within the City boundary and serves about 60% of the City. The water service area is predominantly residential with some commercial business and light industry with approximately 143 miles of distribution pipe and 11,800 service connections. Suburban Water Systems and San Gabriel Valley Water Company serve the remaining 40% of the City. The City is 100% dependent on groundwater and its Pumping Plant No. 2 (PP2) conveys all water supply into the City’s distribution system. The distribution system is divided into six main pressure zones: Subzone 400, Zone 464, Zone 577, Zone 670, Zone 900 and Zone 997. Within the distribution system, the City also has six booster pump stations and ten reservoirs.
