Project Summary

The Grayson repowering project will be sequenced as follows to ensure some local generation is always available and to complete the Tesla portion as soon as possible to increase the amount of local generation: Separation of Unit 9 from the rest of the Grayson power plant allowing it to operate independently prior to the other Grayson units being permanently shut down and demolished. This includes: Replacing the existing water treatment facilities with new facilities that utilize a combination of permanent and mobile trailer mounted demineralizers to produce demineralized water for Unit 9 and later, the Wartsila engines. Upgrading the ammonia storage tank and truck unloading facility. Upgrading the Unit 9 control systems. Sequencing of demolition to prioritize early completion of the Tesla power island. Sequencing demolition of the Grayson power plant to generate needed laydown space for construction of the Tesla and Wartsila power islands as well as the Demo/BOS EPC Constructors own work. Constrain the start of construction of the Glendale Switching Station until after Wartsila has released the laydown areas that the Switching Station will occupy.
